Manitowoc Berghammer Winter Build
Repositionable clearspan coverage that kept winter concrete work on schedule
For a major Manitowoc Berghammer project in mid-winter conditions, JK Rentals installed a 30m x 40m clearspan enclosure to create a fully protected work zone for active concrete operations. As pours progressed, the structure was strategically repositioned to align with phased curing schedules. The result was consistent weather protection for crews and materials, and a jobsite that stayed on track despite February conditions.
Project Scope
JK Rentals delivered a 30m x 40m clearspan enclosure engineered for active winter construction. Scope included rapid delivery and installation, full enclosure planning for wind and snow exposure, and coordination with the jobsite team to maintain safe access and staging around ongoing work.
As concrete pours advanced, the enclosure was repositioned to maintain protection over critical curing zones. This phased approach supported tight schedule demands while shielding crews from wind, snow, and sub-freezing temperatures.

Build Highlights
This project combined winter protection with real jobsite flexibility. The enclosure was engineered for cold-weather performance and integrated into an active concrete schedule, including repositioning to match phased work.
Clearspan Coverage
A wide, open interior footprint created protected space for crews, materials, and active work without center obstructions.
Engineered for Winter Conditions
The fully enclosed structure provided consistent weather protection during harsh February conditions, helping limit downtime.
Active Jobsite Integration
Layout and access were coordinated with the construction team to support safe movement and uninterrupted operations.
Repositioned for Phased Work
As pours and curing shifted across the build area, the structure was strategically moved to keep protection where it mattered most.

Challenges & Execution
Winter conditions narrowed installation windows and increased exposure risks for crews and materials. Maintaining stable curing temperatures and consistent protection required careful sequencing.
The greater complexity came from timing. Concrete operations advanced across the footprint, requiring the enclosure to function as a mobile protection system rather than a fixed structure. Each reposition maintained safety, access flow, and structural integrity while aligning with the evolving schedule.
