Our Story
1986
JK Rentals began with a few old army tents, a $5,000 loan from Kurt’s father, and a lot of determination. The company was built the only way it could be — family and friends pitching in on weekends, doing whatever it took to get each job done.
1992
Demand had grown strong enough that Kurt left his full-time job to focus on JK Rentals. What started as a side gig for extra beer money had become a real business — one that needed his full attention and everything he had to give it.
1994
The long days, hard work, and momentum finally paid off. The company had grown enough for Kurt’s nephew, John Goeman, to join full-time — pulling him away from his career as a contractor and into the tent industry for good. Family was becoming the foundation of everything.
Those early years set the tone for everything JK Rentals stands for today: family, grit, and the belief that with enough hard work, you can build something lasting from nothing.
1998
JK Rentals had outgrown the garages and rented buildings that had carried them through the early years — from small spaces in Hartford, WI to anywhere they could find room for tents and equipment. The company took a major step forward, purchasing its first property in Slinger, Wisconsin.
That move gave JK Rentals a true home base — space to grow, room to invest in inventory, and the stability to take on bigger projects. What started in borrowed storage and weekend labor now had roots of its own.
2000
JK Rentals took another leap forward — expanding beyond pole and frame tents to purchase its first clearspan structures in 20m, 25m, and 30m widths. This move opened the door to larger, more complex projects and marked the beginning of a new era for the company.
Clearspans gave JK Rentals the ability to provide clients with wide-open interiors, engineered strength, and long-term installations — capabilities that would define the company’s growth in the decades to come.
2003
The company was ready to move beyond pickup trucks and short-term leases. It invested in its first box trucks — a practical but pivotal step that expanded capacity and efficiency on every job site. Crews could haul more equipment, travel farther, and deliver with the reliability clients were coming to expect.
2007
JK Rentals had once again outgrown its space — the company was bursting at the seams. They needed a facility that could keep pace with the growing fleet, expanding inventory, and larger projects. They purchased their current property in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, giving the business room to breathe and establishing a true headquarters for the next phase of growth.
From a family operation rooted in craftsmanship to a national partner trusted across industries, our growth has never been accidental. Each milestone represents a strategic investment in better equipment, stronger infrastructure, and a team prepared for what’s next.
2017
The addition of the Arcum clearspan structure marked a major step forward in scale and versatility. It enabled larger events and more complex builds — expanding the company’s ability to support high-capacity guest spaces and demanding site layouts, and raising the bar for what JK Rentals could deliver.
2020
JK Rentals expanded its footprint and capabilities with the acquisition of Big Top Productions, strengthening our presence in the Chicagoland market. The move added warehouse space, equipment, and experienced team members — boosting deployment capacity and positioning the company to support regional projects with greater speed and efficiency.
2023
Building on momentum from the acquisition, the Kewaskum headquarters expanded its footprint. The added space supported a growing team, created room for more inventory and equipment, and strengthened the operational backbone that makes every deployment possible.
2025
The Levo clearspan structure elevated our portfolio with modern design, premium engineering, and expanded capabilities for high-profile installations. It pushed what we can deliver when presentation, finish quality, and guest experience matter just as much as structural performance — raising the standard for every build that followed.
2025
After decades of leadership and hands-on dedication, John retired, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, craftsmanship, and family-driven values that continue to guide us. He helped shape JK Rentals into what it is today — steady growth built on doing things the right way, taking care of customers, and taking pride in the work.
2026
This rebrand reflects who we are today — built on nearly four decades of experience, crafted for the demands of modern events and structures, and ready for what comes next. It’s not a departure from our roots. It’s a clearer expression of everything we’ve always stood for.
Legacy isn’t something we talk about. It’s something we build on. With each investment and each evolution, our focus remains the same: excellence in every event, precision in every install, and unmatched quality where it matters most.
